Georgia Congressman John Barrow will address approximately 680 candidates for graduation at the Spring 2012 Armstrong Atlantic State University commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 5, 10:00 a.m., at the Savannah Civic Center, 301 West Oglethorpe Ave.
Congressman Barrow is currently serving his fourth term as Congressman from Georgia’s 12th Congressional District. A Georgia native, he earned degrees in political science and history from the University of Georgia. At only 20 years old, Congressman Barrow became one of the youngest members of his class at Harvard Law School. In 1990, after having built and run a successful law practice, he was elected as a charter member of the Athens-Clarke County Commission.
In the House of Representatives, Congressman Barrow currently serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. Degrees will be conferred to candidates representing the university’s College of Education, College of Health Professions, College of Liberal Arts and College of Science and Technology. The university will award close to 531 undergraduate degrees, 135 graduate degrees and 18 Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees.
