General Missionary Baptist Convention of GA, Inc.


Monday, April 18, 2016, the First District Women, an auxiliary of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of GA, Inc., met at Connor’s Temple Baptist Church, Rev. Terrance L. Burrell, Sr., Pastor, for their quarterly meeting, Sis. Emma Jean Conyers, President. Churches, their Mission Presidents, and other Baptist women who have affiliated themselves with the General Missionary Baptist Convention are members. Churches present were St. Luke Missionary Baptist; Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist; St. Mary Missionary Baptist; Goodwill Missionary Baptist, Rincon, GA; Central Missionary Baptist, Thunderbolt, GA; The Original First African Missionary Baptist, Statesboro, GA; Macedonia Missionary Baptist, Guyton, GA; First Jerusalem Missionary Baptist (ACL Blvd); First Calvary Missionary Baptist, Hinesville, GA; Second St. John Missionary Baptist; Abyssinia Missionary Baptist; Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist; First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist; Second Arnold Missionary Baptist; and Connor’s Temple Missionary Baptist.

Sis. Wanda Hopkins, a member of Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church, was appointed Vice President of the Women’s Auxiliary First District by President Stanford Anderson, I, who serves as the First District President. Sis. Cheryl Beckford, a member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Hinesville, GA, was appointed the Women of Excellence Ministry Leader by President Conyers.

Reports were made by the following Ministry Leaders of First District: Minister Wives and Widows, Sis. Sandra Clark; Deaconess, Sis. Louise Bryant; Association Presidents, Sis. Bertha Scott.

The women were encouraged to make plans early for upcoming events and to support these events with their presence, mission service, and finances.

The Women’s Day of Prayer is Monday, May 9, 2016, 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Lawrence F. Baker, Pastor. The church is located at 110 Ferrill St., Savannah, GA 31415. The proceeds support Foreign Mission of GMBC. Each Baptist Woman should bring a school backpack stuffed with items for foster children at the Women’s Day of Prayer. Items may include but not limited to wash cloths, stuffed animals, games, deodorant, soap, blankets, socks, books, paper, etc. Make certain bag is appropriately age identified. The Coordinator for the Women’s Day of Prayer is Sis. Rosetta Prescott, St Mary Missionary Baptist Church, and the Coordinator for the backpacks for foster children is Sis. Irene Chisholm, St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.

The Annual Women’s Luncheon will be May 14, 2016, 12 Noon, at Carey Hilliard’s Restaurant, 11111 Abercorn Extension, Savannah, GA 31419. The tickets are $30 each. Proceeds support the General Missionary Baptist Convention of GA, Inc. Those women who don’t bring backpacks at the Women’s Day of Prayer, please bring them to the Luncheon.
