The Pro Sports Festival, hosted by NFL player Gary Guyton will be held June 24-25, 2012 in Hinesville and will feature a variety of events involving NFL players. The event is produced in partnership with Flying Colors Sports, a marketing and community relations firm that works with pro athletes.
The festival kicks off Sunday at 6:00 pm with the Coastal Georgia leg of the Great Amazing Race for Youth. The goal of the race is to provide kids with an opportunity to pair up with a parent, grandparent, sibling or mentor and experience the thrill of running in a fun and invigorating environment together. Inspired by the show “The Amazing Race,” teams of two race against other teams around a one mile cross country course that includes up to eight fun-filled challenge stations comprised of games, relays, obstacles and other tasks.
On Monday, the fun continues at 9:00 am, as Guyton and his NFL friends teach kids in grades 1st – 6th the fundamentals of football. Simultaneously, there will also be a cheerleading clinic. At 11:00 am, Gary then leads kids in grades 7th – 12th in a position specific skills clinic where they are taught some of the techniques being used in the NFL.
Gary has enlisted the support of his NFL friends to help make this event a success. The goal of the Pro Sports Festival is to expose area youth from Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties to professional and collegiate athletes in hopes that they too will aspire to achieve to their fullest potential and give back to the community as well.
Proceeds benefit the Gary Guyton Foundation, which promotes daily family engagement in three home activities (physical exercise, reading a book and healthy eating) that have the power to improve student’s academic performance and family quality of life.
Gary is a graduate of Bradwell Institute and was a football star at Georgia Institute of Technology. He currently plays for the Miami Dolphins.
