Gamma Sigma Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated contributed to four organizations in Savannah in their effort to make a difference in the lives of its citizen. On December 15, 2014, GSO made financial donations to John H. Finney of the Economic Opportunity Authority for Savannah Chatham Area Inc., Keisha Gibson Carter of the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire, Bill Stiles of the Old Savannah City Mission and ZaDonna Slay of the West Broad Street YMCA to address the heart of our community: our children and their families. Under the leadership of Tarangula Barnes Scott, GSO showed their support of these agencies continued efforts to secure and maintain a presence in its communities by presenting checks to assist them in their mission to provide services to those in critical need. GSO believes these contributions will give the agencies opportunities to give their patrons a chance at positive life alternatives and a better path forward. In addition, as part of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Family Seasonal Wrap initiative, in which members collected and donated winter outerwear for families, GSO donated winter outerwear to the West Broad Street YMCA for their annual “Miracle on May Street.”
