The Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated received recognition at the 66th South Atlantic Regional Conference. Held in Greenville, South Carolina from April 11-14, 2019, the South Atlantic Region, the largest of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s 10 regions, hosted more than 170 chapters from Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. The South Atlantic Regional Director, Carolyn G. Randolph commended this regions accomplishment in reaching Alpha Kappa Alpha’s programmatic goals in their perspective areas. Gamma Sigma Omega chapter received two award recognitions, first place recipient for the Sonia W. Garcia Award and runner-up for Economic Legacy Award. Both awards recognize GSO’s outstanding commitment to engage in collaborative programs to increase awareness of critical issues that impact the communities in Savannah. In addition to these chapter recognitions, Soror Audrey B. Singleton received her Golden member status recognition for 50 years and Soror Tuwanna Wilson-Jones receive her Silver Star status recognition for 25 years of membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha.
