Free Performances Of “Rosa Parks & Forgotten Friends”


Bright Star Children’s Touring Theatre will perform a play entitled “Rosa Parks & Forgotten Friends” during the Savannah Black Heritage Festival this February. The performances on February 12 and 14 are free and open to the public.

This brand new production celebrates the life and work of Rosa Parks. In addition to Parks’, the play introduces the audience to a number of significant Americans: famous for their work, yet nearly forgotten. This show celebrates the achievements of the Tuskegee Airmen, Buffalo Soldiers, Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth and more. “Rosa Parks & Forgotten Friends” is best appreciated by audiences from ages 9 and up.

Thursday, Feb 12, 6:30 p.m. – Public presentation. “Rosa Parks & Forgotten Friends.” Presented in part by Gulfstream, Ameri- Group, the Mary Lane Morrison Foundation and First African Baptist Church of East Savannah. First African Baptist Church of East Savannah, 402 Treat Ave.

Saturday, Feb 14, 2:00 p.m. – Public presentation. “Rosa Parks & Forgotten Friends.” Presented in part by Gulfstream, Ameri- Group, the Mary Lane Morrison

During the week, Bright Star Children’s Touring Theatre will also visit public schools for closed presentations.

The 2015 festival is the 16th produced by Savannah State University. All festival events are sponsored by Savannah State University and the City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs and are free and open to the public.
