Former Chatham County prosecutor Shalena Cook Jones formally announced her bid for Chatham County District Attorney on the steps of the Chatham County courthouse last Friday, January 3, 2020

After obtaining her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Legal Studies from Atlanta’s Spelman College, Attorney Jones graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2002 with several honors and distinctions. Attorney Jones began her professional career in the Dekalb County DA’s Office as a third-year law student. In the seventeen years since, Jones has practiced with two prominent insurance defense firms and has worked as a private practitioner, an Assistant United States Attorney, and has successfully prosecuted Special Victims cases right here in Chatham County under the former and current DAs, Larry Chisholm and Meg Heap. Jones seeks to bring this wealth of knowledge, experience and fresh perspective to the 2020 race for the County’s top seat
