First District Women Of GMBC Women Of Excellence


The Women of Excellence, First District, of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of GA, Inc. held a prayer breakfast, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Hinesville, GA, Rev. Sinclair L. Thorne, Pastor. Sis. Cheryl Beckford serves as First District Auxiliary Leader for Women of Excellence. She was assisted by Sis. Deloise C. Thorne, first lady of First Calvary. The theme for the breakfast was “Working Together As One.”

The breakfast started the day for Christ’s servants with songs and prayers. Evangelist Annie Reese brought words of encouragement. Her message was taken from Hebrews 6:19, and her topic was “Women of Excellence Anchored in the Lord.” She reminded the women that they were a chosen generation, a royal priesthood.

Sis. Emma Conyers, President of First District Women, challenged the women to accept the charge of being a chosen generation and do the work of Christ. On Saturday, July 31, 2016, at 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., First District women will impact their church communities by bringing an awareness of crime in their neighborhoods, all 12 counties, praying to touch hearts of parents and children, “Women On the Move To Knock Out Crime.”

The Women-in-White Consecration Service, for First District women, is Sunday, July 25, 2016, 5:00 p.m. at Second St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1323 Golden Street, Savannah, GA. Rev. Marque Johnson, Sr., Pastor. Churches with backpacks for Foster Children are to bring them to this service.
