First Book-Savannah to Donate New Books to Local Literacy Programs

First Book- Savannah/Chatham announced today that 755 new books will be given to a number of literacy programs that serve the Savannah/Chatham children in need. Programs include Hodge Memorial Daycare Center, 2nd Ebenezer Christian Coalition Against Crime, Abundant Life Christian Center International, and YMCA of Coastal Georgia. Each child will receive one book per month for a year, which enables the children to start their own home libraries that they can share with their siblings and families. They will also receive a bookplate on which to place their names celebrating the importance of book ownership.
