First Annual Women In Stem Tea Honoring Dr. Margaret C. Robinson

 
 

Operation Changing the World One STEM at a Time will host the First Annual Women in STEM Scholarship Brunch, on Saturday, July 27th, 2019, 11:00 a.m., on the campus of Savannah State University at Adams Hall. During this celebratory event, the organization and Founder, Ambria Berksteiner will recognize women of considerable achievement, who show relentless support for the Savannah -Chatham County STEM community. Their efforts to support STEM education have impacted our youth and others within the Savannah community and beyond. Through their service they have educated, enlightened, and empowered many young women to succeed in the areas of STEM. The Operation Changing the World One STEM at a Time Change Agent Scholarship award will also be presented at this event.

Operation Changing the One STEM at a Time will dedicate the first Savannah Women In STEM Magazine to the Honorable Dr. Margaret C. Robinson, who will also be honored with the Meritorious STEM Legacy Award along with other community STEM Change Agents featuring– Dr.Frita Fisher, Dr. Yolonda Oglesby Johnson, Dr. Karla-Sue Marriot, Whitney Holt, Dr. Dionne Hoskins-Brown, Dr. Keisha Reddick and many others.

Dr. Frita Fisher is the founder and president of Midtown Atlanta (GA) Nephrology, PC. Dr. Frita completed her Internal Medicine Pediatrics residency at Georgetown University Hospital and her Nephrology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine.

Dr. Yolanda Oglesby Johnson was born in Savannah to Edward and Yvonne Oglesby. She graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School, she then attended Emory University in Atlanta (GA), where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry, and minors in psychology and [dance. She continued at Emory’s School of Medicine to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Johnson completed her pediatric residency at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. Marriott developed the new Bachelor of Science degree program in forensic science at SSU and serves as the program coordinator. Savannah State University is one of only two institutions in the University System of Georgia to offer an undergraduate degree in forensic science, Dr. Marriott has served as PI and CoPI on NIH, NASA and NSF grant projects. She currently serves as PI/PD of the NIH-NIBIB-ESTEEMED program at SSU She is very active in the Savannah community and was a 2018 TEDxSavannah speaker.

Dr. Hoskins- Brown was born in Hampton, Virginia and began her education in the Savannah Chatham County Public Schools at Gould Elementary. In 1999, shortly after college and graduate school, she worked briefly as a Marine Science Postdoctoral Fellow at SSU. Soon after she was assigned by the Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC) of NOAA Fisheries to develop a Cooperative Marine Education and Research (CMER) program at the university, the first of its kind at a historically black university. She currently oversees NOAA Sponsored Programs at SSU. Dr. Hoskins-Brown was named as one of the “40 Under 40” by the Savannah Business Report & Journal and Georgia Trend Magazine. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,

Incorporated and the Savannah (GA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated.

Dr. Keisha L. B Reddick, MD, is an Obstetrics/ Gynecology specialist in Savannah, Georgia. She attended and graduated from Morehouse School Of Medicine in 2003, having over 16 years of diverse experience, especially in Obstetrics/Gynecology. Dr. Reddick is an OB/GYN with a specialty of maternal fetal medicine, one of four perinatalogists in the Savannah Perinatology Associates.
