Emancipation Association to hold Annual Emancipation Day Celebration

The Emancipation Association will hold its 148th Celebration at 11:00 a.m. January 1, 2011 at First Bryan Baptist Church, 575 W. Bryan St. Rev Edward Ellis, Jr. is the Host Pastor.

The speaker for the celebration will be Rev. Dr. Love Henry Whelchel, Professor for Church History at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta.

Under the leadership of Pastor George A. Moore, Jr., Pastor of St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church, and President of the Emancipation Association, addressing the plight of African American males remains a central focus of the Association’s work.

In order to continue to support charitable organizations in the community, the association is depended upon pastors and congregations to continue their generous financial support although some churches may not have received a letter in this regard. The public is cordially invited to be present and join in this great celebration. program chairpersons include Rev. Matthew Southall Brown, Sr., and Presiding Elder J.E. Taylor.
