Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD), a non-profit educational, humanitarian, and community service organization, founded in Tyler, Texas in 1964, will host its 38th Area IV Leadership Conference in Savannah February 13-16, 2020 at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf & Spa Resort.
Led by TLOD National Area IV Director Dr. Adrienne Boner, the conference is expecting over 500 ladies, lords and youth from TLOD and Top Teens of America (TTA) chapters in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
With the theme “Celebrating our Legacy: Transforming Lives and Making a Difference… One Teen, One Lady and One Community at a Time (TLC)” the conference will convene plenary sessions and workshops for Top Ladies and Top Teens that focus on leadership development, health initiatives, educational enrichment, program implementation, and recognition of the investments that have been made in the communities that TLOD serves. The conference is being hosted by TLOD Effingham and Bryan Liberty Counties chapters.
Dr. Boner along Area IV Top Teen President Joseph Thomas III, will open the conference with a public meeting at 6 p.m., where TLOD will recognize community partners including Park Place Outreach, an emergency shelter for youth from Savannah and Chatham counties. As the Area IV Conference TTA service project, Top Teens have collected personal care items, household supplies and snacks and will present them to Park Place Outreach during the public meeting.
Top Ladies an- Lords (spouses) attending the conference will participate in a food drive for America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. All cans collected will be displayed in an Area IV “Canstruction entitled “Have a Heart.”
For the first time, Area IV is partnering with Usher’s New Look Foundation (UNL) to provide its “Business Model Canvas” workshop for Top Teens on Friday, February 14. The peer- led workshop presented by college students in the UNL Moguls In Training program where students will learn about the fundamentals of business plan and how to strategize their personal goals professional growth.

Friday, February 14: Area IV Wellness Celebration “Heart and Sole” 3K Walk (7:30 a.m.), Mentally Speaking (9:30 a.m.), TTA Etiquette Workshop: First Impressions & Dining like a Boss (12:30 p.m.), TTA Speakers Tournament (3:30 p.m.).
Saturday, February 15: TTA Literacy Pancake Breakfast (8:30 a.m.), TTA College Tour (11 a.m.).
The conference will culminate with a masquerade ball featuring a presentation of Mr. and Miss Top Teen, newly inducted members of TLOD, scholarships and awards on Saturday, February 15.
“The 38th Area Leadership Conference is the time for members of Top Ladies to revisit our purpose and commitment to serving senior citizens, community beautification, community partnership, promoting the status of women, and connecting with our leaders of tomorrow, known as Top Teens of America – our number one service thrust,” said TLOD National Area IV Director Dr. Adrienne Boner. “I am also very proud to host the first Area Leadership under my administration, in my community.”
