Edward H. Williams, II Sworn In As Young Lawyer

On December 3, 2014, Edward Williams,II, the son of Edward and Coy Williams of Savannah was sworn into the Virginia State Bar as a Young Lawyer. Williams took the Virginia State Bar exam in July 2014 and passed it the first time. Throughout his life, Williams has sought opportunities to serve his community. He is committed to the causes of social justice, community uplift, and political mobilization.

In May of 2009, Edward Williams earned his BBA in International Business and Finance Cum Laude from Howard University. During his time at Howard, Edward was named Mr. Howard, was a political columnist for the Howard University Hilltop, and a member of the Xi chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. After graduating from Howard University, Edward joined the 2009 Atlanta Corps for Teach For America where he taught third grade for two years. Upon completing his Teach For America commitment Edward matriculated to Georgetown Law where in his first year, he won the coveted Beaudry Moot Court Competition, naming him the best appellate level oral advocate in the first year class. At Georgetown, Edward served as the Vice President of the student body, was a member of the Black Law Student Association, and a member of the Appellate Division of the Barrister’s Council.

On May 17, 2014, Edward graduated from Georgetown University Law School with his J.D. Magna Cum Laude (top 10% of his graduating class) and was accepted into the Order of the Coif (Legal Honor Society). He received the Dean’s Achievement Award (For exceptional service to the law school community),

Exceptional Pro Bono Pledge Honors (For providing over 150 hours of free legal services and community service to the surrounding community), Exceptional Tutorial Service Award (For tutoring first year students), the American Legal Institute and American Bar Association Award (For service to the law school and surrounding communities), and was honored as a Public Interest Fellow.
