The Economic Opportunity Authority for Savannah-Chatham County Area, Inc. will hold the 2011 Annual Meeting on August 10, 2011, at the Savannah Marriott, 100 General McIntosh Blvd.
The speaker for this event will be Dr. Cheryl Dozier, Interim President, Savannah State University. Tickets are $35 each, or a table is available for $350.00. Parking will be free for Meeting attendees.
Economic Opportunity Authority for Savannah- Chatham County, Inc. (EOA) is a private non-profit agency created by joint resolution of the City of Savannah, Chatham County Commission and the Board of Public Education in 1964. The Authority was incorporated on January 6, 1965. The Community Action Program (CAP) provides a variety of programs and services to assist low to moderate income residents of Savannah and Chatham County.
The agency receives funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the State Department of Human Resources, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the City of Savannah, the Chatham County Commission, the Georgia Housing Finance Authority, the Corporation for National and Community Services, the United Way, private foundations, and charitable organizations.
EOA programs include: Head Start/Early Head Start, Weatherization, Foster Grandparent, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, Energy Assistance, Homeless Services, Housing Services, Crisis Intervention, Employment, Youth-At-Risk, Sickle Cell Anemia Program, Computer Learning Lab, and more.
The agency and is governed by a twenty-four member Board of Directors appointed by city, county, private agencies, and businesses.
Dr. Wesley Ball serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors, and John Finney serves as Executive Director.
