SmartWomen Luncheon & Expo is an annual fundraiser for St. Joseph’s/ Candler’s Mary Telfair Women’s Hospital, which includes the Mammography Fund at Telfair Pavilion. The luncheon will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 beginning at 10 a.m. Dr. Ashton speaks at 12:30 p.m. at Savannah International Trade & Convention Center.
Dr. Jennifer Ashton is Board-certified Ob-Gyn and a graduate of Columbia College, Columbia University. She received her medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. Upon graduation, she was awarded the prestigious Bartlestone Award in Pharmacology. Dr. Ashton received her post-graduate training in women’s health and surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in NYC, an affiliate of Columbia, where she was awarded Chief Resident of the Year upon completing her residency. She is currently enrolled in the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons Institute of Human Nutrition Master’s Degree Program in Clinical Nutrition (anticipated completion is 2015) making Dr. Ashton one of the only M.D.’s with a national media platform who also has a degree in Nutrition.
She is currently the co-host of the nationally syndicated daytime medical TV show, The Doctors as well as the Senior Medical Contributor for ABC News Good Morning America and World News with Diane Sawyer. In 2009, Dr. Ashton was the Medical Correspondent for CBS News Network where she received the prestigious Columbia Alfred DuPont Award for Excellence in Journalism. In January, 2010, Dr. Ashton travelled to Haiti with a medical team where she treated victims of the earthquake for 8 days. During this time, she also related her experiences for CBS News on their national TV broadcasts.
