Dr. Christine King Farris Celebrates 90th Birthday at Martin Luther King, Jr. Home

Dr. Christine King Farris (center), sister of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and King Family matriarch, marks her 90th birthday at a celebration Sept. 8 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Birth Home in Atlanta, surrounded by family members including (l-r): Leah Weber King, wife of Dexter King; Dexter King, son of Martin Luther King Jr.; Rev. Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr.; Yolanda Renee King, daughter of Martin Luther King III and granddaughter of Martin Luther King Jr.; and Martin Luther King III, son of Martin Luther King Jr. Farris is serenaded by the Spelman College Glee Club on the porch of the home. A Spelman alumna and the school’s longest-tenured professor, Dr. Farris served Spelman for 56 years.
