Historic Savannah Foundation, a leading preservation organization committed to preserving and protecting Savannah’s heritage through advocacy, education and community involvement, will hosts a lecture by Dr. Charles Elmore about the history of First Bryan Baptist Church.

The “History of First Bryan Baptist Church” lecture by Dr. Charles J. Elmore, author and former Savannah State University professor, will offer insight into First Bryan Baptist Church, one of the most historic African-American houses of worship in the Southeast. This lecture is part of the Historic Savannah Foundation 2012 Preservation Lecture Series and is sponsored by Cora Bett Thomas Austin Hill & Associates, Realtors and the Georgia Humanities Council. This event is free and open to the public. Members of the media are welcome to attend.

The lecture is Tuesday, February 21, 2012 . The reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. and the lecture at 7:30 p.m. The program will be held at First Bryan Baptist Church, 575 W. Bryan Street Savannah, Georgia.Interviews with HSF president and CEO Daniel Carey and guest speaker Dr. Charles J. Elmore will be available onsite.
