Through November 30, bring cans of food for the food bank to Fleet Feet Sports and receive a discount on your entire purchase! Donate 5 cans of food for 10% off or 10 cans of food or more for 20% off the day the food is donated. What a great way to stay fit and feed people in need in our community.
Hunger continues to be a growing issue in our community with nearly 80,000 children in this area at-risk for hunger. Many working poor families struggle each month, making tough decisions about whether to pay the rent, utility bills, purchase prescription medications or buy groceries.
As the holidays approach, think about the local children who are eligible for school lunches yet fresh produce is too expensive for the family income to afford. Consider the parents in our community who are skipping meals to make certain that their children have enough to eat; they still have to be healthy enough to work. Take the time to wonder about the low-income senior citizens facing empty pantries at month’s end that still have medications to purchase and heating bills to pay.
Robert Espinoza spokesperson for Fleet Feet Sports, urges you to beat hunger, “Hunger hurts but you can help! Drop off some cans of food to help people in our community who will struggle through the holidays and colder months.”
Food may be dropped off at Fleet Feet Sports at 3405 Waters Avenue, Savannah. No purchase is necessary for participating in Fleet Feet’s Beat Hunger food drive; anyone may donate food at Fleet Feet Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm.
