Connor’s Temple to Celebrate CTBC-SSU Day

Connor’s Temple invites you to celebrate Connor’s Temple Baptist Church – Savannah State University Day. The speaker for this annual occasion will be Mrs. Kimberly Ballard-Washington, Esq., Interim President of Savannah State University. The program will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. Other participants on the program will include the Connor’s Temple Youth Choir, the Youth Ensemble, the Savannah State University Wesleyan Gospel Choir, and greetings from the SSU student body.

Mrs. Ballard Washington was appointed Interim President of Savannah State University by the Chancellor of the University System of Georgia (USG) on July 1, 2019. She has practiced law for 20 years and most recently worked at the USG as Associate Vice Chancellor for legal affairs and Assistant Secretary to the Board of Regents. She previously served as an Associate Director for legal affairs at the University of Georgia and as Assistant to the President for legal affairs and Director of Equal Opportunity Programs at Valdosta State University, and as Interim President at Fort Valley and Albany State Universities.

Ballard-Washington was named to Georgia Trend Magazine’s “Top 40 under 40” list. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctorate from Texas Southern University School of Law.

Connor’s Temple Baptist Church – Savannah State University Day was initiated in 1996 and became an annual observance in 1998 continuing to the present. CTBC-SSU Day focuses on the legacy and heritage of both institutions and supports the Endowed Scholarship established in 2004 by Connor’s Temple Baptist Church for Savannah State University students.

The church is located at 509 West Gwinnett Street and the public is cordially invited to this celebration.
