On Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Hotel Indigo, The Coastal Jazz Association August concert will feature the John Brackett Quartet, with John Brackett on piano and vocals, Howard Paul on 7 string guitar, Mitch Hennes on bass, and Fuzzy Davis on percussion.
Mr. Brackett was raised in Virginia and started playing piano at the age of 5. His instrument in High School and College was trombone. He graduated from Brevard College and studied music at William and Mary. He began his career playing various jazz clubs in the Washington Area.
In 1989 he moved to Hilton Head Island, where he was the featured band at Big Rocco’s for 9 years. His band was all the rage at the Blue Night Club for 4 years and then he went on to The Jazz Corner for 6 years. He has become one of the most sought out pianist, performing regularly on Wednesday nights at Red Fish restaurant and for many private and corporate events.
Mr. Brackett is also a talented vocalist -reminiscent of Harry Connick Jr. and Mel Torme.
The Coastal Jazz Association August concert once again will be held at Hotel Indigo (201 W. Bay St.) located in downtown Savannah, near City Market. Whitaker Street parking garage (underground) nearby, as is street parking. The hotel is also offering discounted valet parking @ $15. The concert will begin at 5:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Admission to the event is $20 for the general public.
Current members of the Coastal Jazz Association, as well as students (ID required) are admitted FREE.
Come early, get a good seat and prepare to be entertained, charmed, and astounded.
