Coastal Jazz Association presents a special Father’s Day concert with Atlanta Braves organist, Matthew Kaminski! Mr Kaminski will be joined by Benedetto guitarist Howard Paul, vocalist Gwen Hughes, and Mike Hinton on drums. The concert time and location: is 3pm at the Savannah Jewish Educational Alliance ( JEA ) on Abercorn.
Since 2009, Matthew has been heard at every Atlanta Braves home game at Turner Field. Hailing from Chicago, Matthew began studying the organ at the age of five. He has a passion for Jazz Organ and has studied with Hammond B3 masters such as Savannah favorite, Tony Monaco. In April, 2014, Matthew helped in coordinating a master class and performance with Joey DeFrancesco and the Georgia State Jazz Ensemble. He has been featured in The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Fox 5’s “Good Morning Atlanta” and “Good Day Extra”, NPR’s Weekend Edition, and the BBC. Matthew is a Hammond Organ / Leslie Speaker Artist and a full time piano, organ, and accordion educator, currently teaching in Atlanta, GA at The North Fulton School of Music, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, and has taught at Georgia Tech.
Matthew’s debut CD “Taking My Time” (2010, Chicken Coup Records) was released featuring Matthew on the Hammond B3 Organ and garnered positive reviews from Downbeat, Jazz Times, All About Jazz, and other prominent music publications. Matthew’s “Swingin’ on the New Hammond” (2014, Chicken Coup Records) featured master jazz guitarist, Dave Stryker, and made its way onto the Jazz Chart. Moreover, Matthew independently released a solo organ digital album, entitled “Stadium Organ Sounds” that contains songs / ditties that Matthew performs the most at the Major League and college baseball games.
