Coastal Georgia Council Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Alumni Reunion


On Saturday, May 16, 2015 the Coastal Georgia Council Boy Scouts of America will celebrate the annual reunion of Eagle Scout Alumni and recognize all local scouts who earned the rank of Eagle Scout during the previous year. The Coastal Georgia Council consistently ranks above the national average of young men achieving Eagle Scout, with the Class of 2014 consisting of 72 new Eagles. The banquet will take place at the Elks Lodge, 183 Wilshire Blvd. in Savannah and reservations are now being accepted at 912- 927-7272 x 204. Reception begins at 5:00pm, with dinner and program to follow beginning at 5:30pm.

This year’s Eagle Scholarship recipient is Wyatt Rafael Nail. The 2015 Arrow of Light Class Honoree is Bob Nash, who is being recognized as Cub Master of the Year.

The 2015 Eagle Scout Class Honoree is Mr. Thad Welch, who earned his Eagle Scout rank in 1947, graduated from the Citadel in 1954 and served 24 years in the Air Force. Mr. Welch served in Vietnam, where some of his military awards include the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star and twelve Air Medals. He retired as a Full Colonel in 1978. Mr. Welch has served the Coastal Georgia Council in many volunteer capacities over the years, including Scout Leader, Executive Board member and District Committee Member..
