Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity Celebrates World Habitat Day with Four Families Paying Off Their Mortgages

The Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity is marking World Habitat Day by celebrating with 4 of its partner families who have paid off their Habitat mortgages this year. Join us on Friday, October

6th at 8:30 a.m. at our ReStore located at 701 MLK Jr. Blvd.

“World Habitat Day reminds us of our universal need for adequate shelter,” says Executive Director Harold Tessendorf.

“We will celebrate with the four families, whose 13 members’ lives have been transformed through their Habitat homes, with a symbolic mortgage burning on Friday the 6th . We also plan to announce the results of our 2017 Building Futures Campaign.” Diane Harris Douse, one of the four homeowners who paid off her mortgage this year, did so in 20 years. Mrs. Harris-Douse raised three daughters and a son in her Ewell St. home. One of her daughters is now a doctor while another is a dental hygienist.
