CJA Jazz Rent Party To Be Held January 22nd

On Sunday, the 22nd of January at 5:00 p.m. the Coastal Jazz Association will pay homage to the “Telfair Jazz Society, which was the beginning of a reenergized jazz scene in Savannah and ultimately led to what is now the Coastal Jazz Association. The concert will be held at the Savannah Westin Resort – Just Across the River. In 1978 after trombonist Teddy Adams returned to the U.S. after serving in the US Air Force

in Japan, he teamed up with bassist, and jazz legend Ben Tucker to begin the process of revitalizing the Savannah jazz scene which had laid dormant for almost20years.They formed a mainstream jazz group which was dubbed the Telfair Jazz Society. The popular musical group performed regularly on Sunday afternoons at the Telfair Museum in Savannah. Now, after more than 30 years the jazz scene in Savannah remains vibrant.

will feature the region’s top artists, including Mr. Adams and Mr. Tucker, Quentin Baxter, Kevin Bales as well as vocalist Claire Frazier.

The concert is FREE and open to the public. It is recommended that attendees offer a donation for attending the event. Money collected will go toward the Savannah Jazz Festival and producing the monthly concert series – Just Across the River.
