City Therapeutic Recreation Program Takes Home Gold at Special Olympics Indoor Winter Games

Nineteen athletes in the City of Savannah’s Recreation and Leisure Services Department Therapeutic Recreation program participated in this year’s Special Olympics Georgia Indoor Winter Games in Cobb County.

The City is proud to announce Savannah brought home four gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal in Basketball Skills, and two team gold medals in 3-on-3 basketball.

More than 1,500 athletes and 100 Unified Partners from around the state competed in a variety of friendly competitions Jan. 10 – 12.

Special Olympics Georgia provides children and adults with intellectual disabilities continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy by sharing their gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
