Sushi-Zen located at 30 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration on Tuesday, December 16, 2008.

Sushi-Zen specializes in Fine Japanese Cuisine and is located in the heart of Savannah. Representatives from the City Council, the City of Savannah, the Savannah Downtown Business Association, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd/ Montgomery Street Business Association, the Small Business Assistance Corporation, and the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority served as featured speakers at the event.

Previously, Sushi-Zen was located at 41 Whitaker Street, and once their lease ended the owners decided to relocate to Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd. With their new and convenient location, the owners and staff at Sushi-Zen “are hoping to make new friends in the area” as well as see familiar faces of their already established customer clientele. A Façade Improvement Program was used to improve the building. The loan was administered through the SDRA’s Façade Improvement Program.

Sushi-Zen represents a growing number of new businesses that contribute to the revitalization of Downtown Savannah. Since 2000, 172 new businesses have opened, generating 785 new jobs and approximately $329 million in property investment within the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard/ Montgomery Street Corridor.
