City of Savannah Dedicates Markers

On Saturday, Sept. 22, officials from NOAA’s Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary and the City of Savannah dedicated six bronze markers commemorating the sanctuary, its marine life and natural history, and its connection to the city and the state of Georgia. The public was invited to attend the dedication ceremony.

The markers are located along a 50-yard stretch of the city’s historic Rousakis Plaza on River Street. . Funding for the project was provided by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. Alderman Van Johnson, City of Savannah ; George Sedberry, superintendent, NOAA’s Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary; Jason Patlis, president and CEO, National Marine Sanctuary Foundation were in attendance.
