Savannah City Manager Rochelle Small- Toney announced the appointment of Cynthia Marietta as Savannah’s new Research and Budget Director.
Marietta is a Certified Public Accountant who has an extensive resume in government finance, currently serving as CFO of the New Mexico State Investment Council. She formerly served as CFO of the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, as well as Assistant Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Public Education Department.
For more than seven years she worked in the City of Dallas, Texas, Research and Budget Department, including two years as its Director.
Ms. Marietta fills the position left vacant by the retirement this spring of Wanda Williams. The Research and Budget Director works across the City organization to create and manage the annual City budget.
“I am impressed with Ms. Marietta’s intellect and extensive financial experience, as she has served in multiple financial capacities, including budget director of a major city,” Small-Toney said.
Ms. Marietta will attend the Nov. 14-16 City Council Budget Retreat, though her official start is not until Dec. 5.
