City Donates 7,207 Cans To America’s Second Harvest

The City of Savannah today donated 7,207 cans of food to America’s Second Harvest during the culmination of the Great Savannah Canned Food Drive. The Great Savannah Canned Food Drive is an annual event that includes a friendly competition among Bureaus within the City organization to collect the most cans.

“I’m very proud of our City employees for their generous spirit and dedication to our community, as they help serve those most vulnerable and in need,” said Mayor Eddie DeLoach, surrounded by many of the employees who donated from across the organization.

Mayor DeLoach presented the coveted Most Generous Bureau trophy to the Leisure Services Bureau. Each Leisure Services employee donated an average of 11 cans during the 10- day collection period. The Most Generous Employee was Ms. Edith Crawford, also of Leisure Services in the Parks and Recreation department. She personally donated 1,219 cans.
