Residents and visitors can get a behind the scenes look at Savannah City Hall, and view special exhibits highlighting chapters of Savannah’s history, during the next First Tuesday Tour of City Hall which is set for Tuesday, November 1.

The tour begins at noon, in the City Hall Rotunda, and lasts less than an hour. The tour is free, but space is limited and reservation is required. To reserve a space you may register online at www.savannahga.gov/FirstTuesdayTours or contact City of Savannah Research Library & Municipal Archives Director Luciana Spracher at (912) 651-6411 or Lspracher@savannahga. gov

The First Tuesday Tour series gives an overview of the history, architecture, and art of historic City Hall. Participants will also hear stories about some of the City’s more fascinating characters and learn about their City government. The tour provides an opportunity to view City Hall’s history and art exhibits, including two in the Council Chamber displaying historical artifacts from the City’s 225 year history and archaeological artifacts recovered from the Cluskey Embankment Stores. In the 1st floor Rotunda, tour guests will view an exhibit celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Savannah’s National Historic Landmark District featuring the artwork of winners of the Elementary School Art Competition.

The First Tuesday Tour of City Hall is just one of the ways that the City of Savannah is making City Hall more accessible to the public.
