The Chatham County Young Democrats would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of Former Alderman, Leo Center and Retired Educator and Owner of Jackson’s Construction Company, Lester G. Jackson, Jr. whom passed during the month of October.

The father of Chairman, Tony Center of the Chatham County Democratic Committee, and father of Senator, Lester G. Jackson, III D.D.S. will be remembered.

It is not everyday that we stop to memorialize the passing of two honorable great democratic leaders in the political landscape to this degree. Center and Jackson have left a legacy and definite imprint in molding and influencing the destiny of their children. However, we must

also take time to recognize Center and Jackson for their impacts to the Savannah Community. Center was not only a champion boxer; he also was a courageous five-term Alderman of the City of Savannah. In his own right Jackson was an educator, business owner, and civic leader. Jackson served as a member of the National Association of Retired Educators, Chatham County Association of Retired Educators,

G.E.A., The American Legion, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., NAACP, and the Mutual Benevolent Society.

The Chatham County Chapter of the Young Democrats honors these inspiring men and democratic leaders. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family members of the Center and Jackson Families.
