The month of April is designated as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month and throughout the year, Savannah/Chatham CASA, Inc. encourages all individuals and organizations to play a role in making Chatham County a better place for children and families. By ensuring that parents have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to care for their children, we can help promote children’s social and emotional wellbeing and prevent child maltreatment within families and communities.
“April is a time to celebrate the important role that communities play in protecting children,” said ZaDonna Slay, CASA director. “Everyone’s participation is critical. Focusing on ways to build and promote the protective factors, in every interaction with children and families, is the best thing our community can do to prevent child maltreatment and promote optimal child development.”
In honor of the month of awareness, Savannah/Chatham CASA will conduct several activities to promote the mission and purpose of CASA:

Wednesday, April 4, 2012 – Law & Government Explorer’s Post with Learning for Life
Saturday, April 21, 2012, 6:00am – 10:00am – Belk’s Charity Day Sale Tickets are $5.00 per person and may be purchased at the CASA office, by calling (912) 447-8908 ext. 100.
Friday, April 27, 2012, 8:00am – Annual Meeting & Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast
The breakfast will be held at the Johnny Harris Banquet Center, 1651 East Victory Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31404. Admission to the event is $15.00 per person. The program will include an overview of Savannah/Chatham CASA program statistics, recognition of program highlights and achievements during 2011 and showcase our 80+ CASA volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children in Chatham County.
