In its fifth year, the 2017 Day of Care for Caregivers, is always an anticipated event in the Coastal region. Caregivers will be honored for their role in providing loving support for their family members living with aging and other disabilities. Caregivers will be treated to breakfast, courtesy of Savannah Commons and a delicious lunch provided by United Health- Care, our gold level sponsor for this year. The FREE event will be held on Friday October 13th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Edel Caregiver Institute Demere Center for Living located at 6000 Business Center Drive in Savannah. This year’s theme is “Hats Off to Caregivers”. Attendees are asked to wear their favorite hat for the chance to win prizes. Caregivers and their loved ones will be treated to informative seminars, relaxing activities and great door prizes in a fun, festive atmosphere.
“This annual event is a way for us to truly honor the unsung heroes in the life of so many—their caregivers,” stated Janice Gugliemi, President of the Roslyn Carter Caregiving Institute’s Coastal CareNet. . Beginning in 2007, the regional CARE-NETs around the state of Georgia have accepted nominations for exceptional caregivers in three categories: family, para-professional, and volunteer. From these nominations, regional winners are selected. These regional winners are then submitted for consideration by an award committee at RCI for the Georgia Caregiver of the Year in each of those categories. The Coastal Region CARENET will be honoring their nomination to this year’s award at this event.
