Calling All Neighborhood Leaders: Training Program Now Recruiting

Step Up Savannah is looking for emerging leaders, young and old, to participate in a leadership course, starting the week of September 17.

The Neighborhood Leadership Academy is open to men and women, 21 years and older from Savannah/Chatham County. The program is designed to enhance leadership skills with a special emphasis on critical thinking, creative problem solving and advocacy. The 12-session evening program will stress effective advocacy for programs, policies and procedures that strengthen the well-being of underserved communities.

A maximum of 15 men and women will be selected through a competitive application process, which opens on July 16. Deadline to apply is August 10. Those who are selected for an interview will be scheduled to interview after Aug. 20, and a final decision on the successful candidates will be made by Sept. 7.

Selected participants will attend Monday evening sessions taught by other community leaders and experts at Savannah State University. A small stipend will be offered to those who attend all sessions.
