The Wesley’s Early Childhood Center, located at 1601 Drayton Street hosted there annual week long celebration to promote quality early childhood education and literacy, while celebrating The Week of the Young Child.
The events took place April 15-19, 2013. Special guest celebrity readers included author Gina Williams with Griffin Worx, Inc., Judge Tammy Stokes and District Attorney Meg Daly Heap. The Books, Brownies and Berries Day is also a time for the community partners to come out an read to the children.
The schedule of events included Monday- Shake, Rattle, and Roll Parade Day, Tuesday-Multi-Cultural Kid’s Café Day Wednesday- Cool and Crafty Day Thursday Books, Brownies, and Berries Day featuring the Guest Readers and -concluded the celebration with Friday Super Fun Friday.
The children that participated in the event ages ranged from 6 weeks to 4 years old. The children were very attentive and enjoyed the literacy celebration. All of the children that attend the Wesley Community Center are read to twice a day.
