On Sunday, February 25th, 2018 Massie Heritage Center, 207 E. Gordon St. is offering FREE admission from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. for visitors to explore Savannah’s Black Heritage. This is a family-friendly event featuring activities for all ages.
A Journey on the Underground Railroad: An interactive story telling session about an enslaved child escaping to freedom. Enslavement to Emancipation: The Struggle for Education Exhibit Experience that traces the history of education in 19th century Savannah, from the era of clandestine schools until desegregation in the early sixties. Featuring Susie King Taylor Historic Preservation: A Gallery Talk on the legacy of WW Law in Savannah/ The Hermitage Plantation & the enduring Savannah Grey Brick. Black Heritage Scavenger Hunt: Use clues throughout the museum to discover Savannah’s Black Heritage.
