Sis. Daisy Swinton, originally from Rincon, Ga., has lived most of her life in Savannah, Ga.
At an early age, she joined a Baptist Church in Alee, Ga., where she went to church and Sunday School. After many years she joined St. Luke A.M.E. Church, now New St. Luke A.M.E. Church, Joe Street, under the leadership of the late Rev. Alexander Leonard, where she still serves today, under the leadership of Rev. Kenneth Wilson, Sr.
This beautiful lady enjoys working in the church and she rarely misses any services or activities going on at the church. When asked how she does it, she answers, “Prayer is the key!” For many years she was the President of the Sr. Choir and President of The Jackson Woodward Missionary Society.
She still sings for Jesus with the Sr. Choir. Also, she is the Mother of the Church. This spirit-filled woman of God will be celebrating her 92nd birthday on May 11, 2011, if it is God’s will. She has no birth children, however, she has several nieces, nephews, grand, and greatgrand nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
All family members and friends are welcome to celebrate and worship God with her at New St. Luke A.M.E., May 15, 2011, at 11:30 a.m.
Some of her awards and recognitions include the Love Feast Award from St. Luke, a plaque for faithful and dedicated service from the Methodist Ushers Association, a plaque for Church Mother from The Evangelical Minister’s Union and she was honored by New St. Luke A.M.E. as Mother of the Church and a faithful servant.
To God Be The Glory for all he has done and what He has enabled her to do!
