Bethel to hold Annual Day Celebration





On Sunday, May 31, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., the Fountain-Wallace Missionary Society of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where the Reverend Charles W. Purnell is the host pastor, will have their Annual Day Celebration.



We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Reatha J. Stevens as our speaker – a woman who is not a stranger to this community.



Mrs. Reatha J. Stevens is a native of Brooks County, Georgia, born the tenth of eleven children to Ila Lee McCall Jenkins and Joshua Jenkins, Sr.



She received her early education in the public schools of Brooks County, Georgia, graduating Valedictorian of her high school class.



She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Savannah State College (now University).



She did advanced study at the University of Georgia- Athens towards a Masters Degree in Social Work.



Currently she is a charter member of New Zion Independent Methodist Church, serving as Steward Board Chair, Superintendent of Sunday School, Teacher of the Adult Sunday School class, and President of the Adult Choir.



Mrs. Stevens is the mother of three children – one daughter and two sons – the grandmother of eight and the great-grandmother of four.



The public is cordially invited to attend this wonderful occasion.



A fellowship dinner will follow the morning worship service.



Sister Millie Parker is the President of the society; Sister Freddie Mae Hayes is President- Elect and Program Chairperson.
