Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Savannah, Inc., 5863 Ogeechee Road, is preparing to celebrate its 2007th Anniversary.
In January of 1803, Rev. Henry Francis was installed as minister of Ogeechee African Baptist Church. This church was placed on the Ogeechee to accommodate slaves on the plantations along the Ogeechee River. Ogeechee African Baptist Church became Great Ogeechee Church and now stands as Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Savannah, Inc,
Pastor Jerome Wm. Baker and the Bethel Family ask that you come and join us as we pay tribute to God for blessing us two hundred seven years. How great is our God? Who through many generations both slaves and free, is still blessing the foundation of our place of worship.
This historic event will continue on January 6th – 8th, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. nightly and will culminate on Sunday, January 10th, 2010 at 5 p.m. Our prayer is to have the entire Coastal Empire help us celebrate the goodness of our God, for the preservation of Bethel.
Jerome William Baker, Pastor.
