Beach H.S. Hosts 45th Anniversary Program


The Gator Ball Academy and Harambee House, Dr. Mildred McClain and Southern Pines, Mr. Ramsey Kllaid is sponsoring a Harlem Globetrotter Legend’s basketball game against Alfred E. Beach High School Alumni team.

Mr. Eric Harris will be putting together an alumni team celebrating the 45th Anniversary of Alfred E. Beach School winning the first state championship in the GHSA, marking the end of segregation in athletics in the state of Georgia.

This event is also apart of Black History Month. Alfred E. Beach High School is rich in cultural history throughout the state and neighboring Communities. This event is to bring awareness of the school’s history and heritage and it’s a way of giving back.

Mr. Larry Jenkins is also one of the first special needs students to graduate from Beach and went to college to receive his Bachelor Degree from Oakwood college in Huntsville, Alabama, He became a Special Education Administrator.

Mr. Jenkins also played on the basketball Team. We would also like to recognize Mr. Marvin McCleadon who was one of the All-Star players for the 1967 championship. At the game a student will be given a scholarship and a donation will be awarded to S.H.A.D.O.W.S Youth Organization, Please come out an support this event.
