The arts education nonprofit All Walks of Life Inc. has announced that it will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from the Friday night (2/5) performance of its annual theater production, “Choices: A Romeo And Juliet Story” to help victims of the tragic earthquake in Haiti.

“As a nonprofit that works to develop youth, we feel it important to not only educate youth about the importance of helping others but to show them how to actually do it,” says DaVena Jordan, AWOL’s Executive Director. Because the major theme of the play is love, AWOL’s effort to raise donations will be known as “To Haiti With Love.” The annual production, the culmination of AWOL’s theater program called Act Up, is scheduled to run February 5 and 6 at Lucas Theatre at 7 p.m. The play features nearly 50 local youth, who’ve been working for over 6 months on acting, choreography and more. When news of the disaster in Haiti hit, everyone agreed that they needed to find a way to help.

Cumulus Broadcasting has been a long time supporter of AWOL and many other local nonprofits and plans to support the effort through on air announcements and matching commercials.

“With activity around the world involving the United States, the loss of lives of innocent people in Haiti takes precedence. Therefore E93 Savannah’s Hip Hop and R&B leader is happy to support the efforts of AWOL as we join all Americans to demonstrate the greatness of our country and our goodwill to mankind.” says Lil G, E93 Program Director and radio personality.

Cricket Wireless has been partnering with AWOL since their 2008 launch in the community through providing youth with employment and supporting AWOL events.

“The Cricket family is intensely focused on doing whatever we can to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Our company has been providing free unlimited calls to Haiti and facilitating donations via text. We’re grateful for the participation of our partners at AWOL and ask for the generous participation of the Savannah community.” says Tyler Proctor, Cricket Wireless District Director.
