Asbury United Methodist Church to Sponsor Pew Rally



Asbury United Methodist Church will sponsor a Pew Rally on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at 4:00 P.M. The speaker will be Reverend Ricardo Manuel, the Pastor of Second Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Hitch Village. First Ebenezer Church choir will provide the music.

A native of Fayetteville, N.C., he joined the U.S. Army after high school graduation, and served twenty-one years, retiring from the Army in 2000.

Rev. Manuel joined First African Baptist Church of East Savannah, where he became the leader of the Evangelism Ministry and began the food giveaway program, food pantry, and community outreach activities. In 1996, he became an ordained deacon under the pastorate of Rev. Thomas E. Williams. He was licensed and ordained to preach in 1999.

In 2000, he was an Assistant Pastor under Rev. Harold H. Baker at Second Ebenezer Baptist, and in 2003, became the Pastor. At Second Ebenezer, he has rejuvenated the Brotherhood Ministry, organized a Sisterhood Ministry, and a male chorus. He has also started a mentoring program at Spencer Elementary and the Christian Coalition against Crime (to keep the children in the community from committing crimes).

The community is invited to attend this occasion.

The church is located at 1201 Abercorn Street, Reverend Beverly Flowers is the Pastor.
