Asbury Memorial Church Announces 2019 Summer Preaching Series

 
 

Asbury Memorial Church has unveiled the lineup of speakers for their 2019 summer preaching series. Worship services will be held at 11:15 a.m. every Sunday throughout the summer at the church, 1008 E. Henry St. in downtown Savannah.

This summer series will begin Sunday, July 7 with Rev. Danny Beam. Rev. Danny Beam was ordained in 1981, has served churches in the Southern Baptist Convention, and was a consultant with the Georgia Baptist Convention. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has a Master Addictions Counselor license through NADAC. Today he works as an embedded Military Family Life Counselor with the 3rd Combat Aviation Battalion at Hunter AAF in Savannah. Danny joined Asbury Memorial in 2003 and married Barbara Jean Lackey-Beam in 2009. He has two adult children and is soon to welcome his fifth grandchild. John Ashley Beam, his late oldest grandson, is with us in spirit.

Next up, on Sunday, July 14, is Rev. Lesley Brogan. Rev. Lesley Brogan graduated from Candler School of Theology at Emory and is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. She works at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with Family Experience. Lesley was born and raised in Mattoon, Illinois, a middle daughter of a middle daughter. She and her partner, Linda Ellis, live in Decatur, GA, and are moms to Ray Ellis’ and Randy Canady’s favorite nephews, John Brogan and Sam.

On Sunday, July 21, Rev. Nathan Godley will address the Asbury Memorial congregation and visitors. Rev. Nathan Godley was born in Savannah and was an active member and leader at Epworth United Methodist Church. After graduating from Armstrong State University, he attended the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. He served a variety of churches in the South Georgia UMC Conference, including Epworth United Methodist Church and White Bluff United Methodist Church in Savannah. After retiring, Nathan and his wife, Patty, bought the 17Hundred90 Inn and Restaurant in historic downtown Savannah, which their son Patrick now manages.
