Donna R. Brooks, assistant dean and associate professor of communication sciences and disorders in the College of Health Professions at Armstrong Atlantic State University, is one of 13 individuals selected to participate in the Leadership Development Program conducted by the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP).

The 2011 program has two parts, with the first being held March 15-16 in New Orleans, La., immediately preceding the start of the Association’s 2011 spring meeting on March 17-18. The second part will take place in Scottsdale, Ariz., on October 17-18, immediately prior to the 2011 annual conference on October 19-21.

“I am excited about Dr. Brooks’ selection for ASHAP’s leadership development program,” said Shelley Conroy, Armstrong dean of the College of Health Professions. “In particular, it is helpful for assistant deans to be able to work on teams focusing on issues of mutual interest, while at the same time having an opportunity to pursue activities enabling them to develop their personal leadership skills. We look forward to the new perspectives, enthusiasm and expertise Dr. Brooks will bring back to Armstrong from her participation in this program.”

Brooks joined Armstrong as a faculty member in 1995. She served as department chair of communication sciences and disorders prior to being named assistant dean of the College of Health Professions in 2010. She holds a Ph.D. in audiology and speech science from Purdue University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in speech language pathology from Hampton University. For more information, visit .
