Angela Washington formally announces the launch of her campaign for Chatham County Commissioner District 5 because it is time for safer neighborhoods, economic prosperity for all, and leadership that puts people first.
Angela Washington is a long time Savannah resident and a successful local business owner. “I believe that we deserve a County Commission that puts people first,” said Washington. “Everyone should have a safe neighborhood, not just those who live in affluent areas or in the tourist district. Everyone should have the opportunity to benefit from the economic prosperity our County has seen in recent years, not just those with political connections or outsiders who use our resources without consideration for how low-wage jobs harm our community.” Washington is a newcomer to politics, but she is a well-established community servant and leader. Her small business, A. Washington Printing Co., was established more than 20 years ago, and through that business she has strong connections to many local organizations, churches, charities, and non-profit organizations. A vocal supporter of continuing education opportunities, Washington returned to Armstrong State University in 2017 and will be receiving her Liberal Studies in Sociology degree from Georgia Southern in May 2020.
The Committee to Elect Angela Washington believes that her experience as a small business owner and an active volunteer in the community proves she will be a strong voice for the residents of District 5. They believe in her vision of safer neighborhoods, economic prosperity for all, and leadership that puts people first.
