Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Recognizes Professor Taqwaa Saleem

During the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. 59th South Atlantic Regional Conference in Greenville, SC., Professor Taqwaa F. Saleem was awarded third place recognition in the Frederica S. Wilson Sisterly Relations Award. This award is named in honor of former South Atlantic Regional Director (1986-1990), Mrs. Frederica S. Wilson and recognizes sorority members in the region who exemplify sisterly deeds rendered toward other members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Saleem was initiated into the sorority in 2007 through the Gamma Upsilon chapter at Savannah State University. Saleem has served as Ivy Leaf Reporter and Chair of the Public Relations committee and currently she is the chapter Hostess, Chair of the Global Poverty committee, and member of the chapter’s Protocol, Standards, and Founders’ Day Observance committees. Saleem is also on the board for Gamma Sigma Omega’s foundation, MARTHA, Inc.

Prof. Saleem is a faculty member at Savannah State University, teaching English Literature and Language. She also works at the Law Offices of Lester B. Johnson, III, P.C. She is an active member of Living Hope Community Fellowship and a host of other service organizations including the Junior League of Savannah, the National Council of Negro Women, and The #BlockParty Movement.
