Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated chapters, Gamma Sigma Omega, Gamma Upsilon and Sigma Tau, have partnered with the NAACP Savannah Branch to register eligible voters in Chatham County. Recognizing the critical need to address the unregistered population of eligible voters, the Savannah chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha scheduled numerous dates and locations in order to identify and encourage voter’s registration. The NAACP has identified 31,000 unregistered voters in Chatham County and has targeted at least 10 percent of this population for registration before the NAACP’s deadline of October 4, 2014. Alpha Kappa Alpha has conducted voter registration drives at several locations in our communities to target this population with the goal of not only registering voters but educating them on voting procedures.
