The Coastal Georgia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is proud to announce the availability of $225,000 in grant funds for fiscal year 2010.Breast cancer and breast health programs of nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, and educational institutions in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties are eligible to apply for grant funds from the Affiliate.
The promise of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. The organization runs one of the most innovative, responsive grant programs in breast cancer today.
In addition to funding research, the Coastal Georgia Affiliate funds non-duplicative, community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment projects for the medically underserved in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties. In 2009, the Affiliate granted $150,000 to local community programs. Since its inception in 2007, the Affiliate has dispersed grant funds totaling $233,079.
Grant applications must be postmarked by December 18, 2009. Announcements of funding will be made in March, 2010, and funding disbursements will begin in April, 2010, following the receipt of signed contracts by March 31.
