Savannah/ Chatham CASA is thrilled to announce that with over 40 days left to raise funds, this year’s Savannah Star Dancers have made it to the half way mark of their fundraising goal! All funds raised will go towards program operation costs to recruit, screen and train volunteers to advocate the best interest of abused and neglected children in the Chatham County child welfare system.

This year’s stars are: Allen Maricle-Local Sales Manager for the WGSA CW13, CW Plus, ThisTv and Telemundo.;Amy Kaminsky- Active Community Volunteer; Brook Nash- Owner of Pure Barre Savannah; Byron Meredith Chapter 13 Trustee; Courtney Reich- Owner of Ecological Planning Group; Deanna Corley- Business Developer at Trace Staffing; Mary Haskins-OR Director and Clinical Supervisor at Coastal Empire Plastic Surgery; TC Miller- Morning Show Host of “TC Live” & Creative Director for WXYY, Y100 (Top 40)

The dancers have been competing to raise the most funds for Savannah/ Chatham CASA while also learning ballroom dancing. These stars are sure to entertain at the finale event on November 12th at the Lucas Theater. Awards for the highest fundraiser and best dancer will be presented at the event.

Funds raised from the 13-week campaign will be used to provide quality Court-Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children in the court system. CASA volunteers commit to finding the best interest of these children and make recommendations to the judge. Their information is used to make sure that the child’s best interest is met and that each child has a voice in court. CASA volunteers increase abused and neglected children’s access to services, promote safety, and advocate for timeliness and permanency for children involved in juvenile court proceedings. CASA volunteers are independent advocates and provide individualized attention for children in a massive state system. Thanks again to all of the wonderful people who dedicated their time and efforts in order to make the event successful to benefit the children of Savannah!
