78th Annual Bell Family Reunion

The members of the Georgia and Missouri Bell Family of Reidsville, NC announce the selection of Savannah, Georgia as the site for their 78th Annual Bell family Reunion. The children and grandchildren of the late Chester Bell and Mary Hendershott Bell of Baltimore, Maryland will serve as the Host Family. The Reunion will be held on August 10-13, 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn Savannah Airport. The Bell Family Reunion is one of the Oldest Black Family Reunions in the country and expects over 150 family members to attend.

The Bell Family has established the George and Missouri Bell Foundation, Inc. in honor of George and Missouri Bell who were slaves in Alamance County, North Carolina during slavery. When slavery ended, George and Missouri along with all of their family members stayed on the land. George became a Community Activist and helped freed slaves to get an education and jobs; while his wife Missouri served as a Mid- Wife in the community.

In 2008, the Bell Family established the George and Missouri Bell Foundation, Inc. a 501c3 Organization with the help of the children descent of George and Missouri Bell. They were Carolyn Bell Stanley (Savannah GA) and Doris Loretta Maxwell (Graham, NC). The Family voted to establish the Foundation to demonstrate that the family members have continued to have a caring spirit and a legacy of giving back to the community in which we have our Reunions. Since 2008, The foundation annually selects and educational facility, Day Care Center, or Program for children to make a donation to in the city where the Reunion is held. The 2017 donations of School Supplies and Equipment will be given to the Savannah Adventist Christian School in Pooler, Georgia. The President CEO of the Foundation is Carolyn S. Bell Stanley of Savannah, GA and the Chair of the Board of Directors is Willie Settle of Louisville, KY.

The Host Family are the daughters and grandchildren of Chester and Mary Bell. They are daughters: Carolyn Bell Stanley (Savannah), Diana L. Bell (Oakland CA); Granddaughters: Adrienne Boner (Pooler GA), Andrea Keen-Avery (Pooler GA); Great Grands: Alana Keen-Avery and Ahmed Keen-Avery, Jr. Other Host Family Members and Friends include: Benjamin Boner, Ahmed Keen-Avery, Ernest Dickey, Jacqueline Williams, Antonia Colvin and Ulyesses Lonnon.
